Know your business model: a conceptual framework can go a long way when first starting out.

For those of you who want to lead rather than follow, an evolutionary business model can work on the web with continuous monitoring; but it sometimes helps to at least look at the established order.

Here is what I thought when I started Kendallsoft- http://digitalenterprise.org/models/models.html The manufacturer or "direct model", it is predicated on the power of the web to allow a manufacturer (i.e., a company that creates a product or service) to reach buyers directly and thereby compress the distribution channel.

The manufacturer model can be based on efficiency, improved customer service, and a better understanding of customer preferences.

Bit Vendor -- a merchant that deals strictly in digital products and services and, in its purest form, conducts both sales and distribution over the web.
